Get relief from back pain, neck pain, headaches, hip pain, jaw pain (TMJ), leg pain (sciatica), knee pain, hand pain, shoulder pain etc. Body work specifically addresses what ails us. We are holistic practitioners and approach painful syndromes as a link or warning sign of a whole body adaptation. The main assessment in body work (Neuromuscular Therapy & Myofascial Therapy) is to determine from posture which muscle groups are shortened and which muscle groups are elongated. With this information the body work session’s objective is to bring balance between opposing muscle groups. When this is achieved pain symptoms often subside. Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) primarily utilizes friction, Trigger-point Therapy, and Myofascial Therapy to shortened muscles and fascia in order to help the musculature regain balance hence correct poor posture. This reduces the drag on one's nervous system and hence pain recedes. Better posture also requires less energy to maintain. The involved joints also operate biomechanical correct reducing wear and tear to the joint capsule. Reducing muscular tonus also reduces impingement syndromes such as Piriformis Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet/inlet, or even impingements on the vertebral level.
Neuromuscular Therapy encompasses a systematic approach to relieving pain and promoting wellness, not by just treating the pain full muscles, joints or body part but by determining the underlying patterns of muscular tonus (tone)and restriction throughout the body that is contributing to a painful condition or weak link.
For example Forward Head Posture (FHP) can create head aches, neck pain, upper back pain or even numbness is the hands. By bringing balance to the necks musculature, FHP is corrected and numbness in the hands subside, headaches diminish etc. But body work does not end there the overall postural pattern has to be addressed at the hips and pelvis or even the feet. Collapsed arches or pelvic position has far reaching effects, particularly on neck position and in this scenario a FHP which is causing the headaches or numbness in the hands. It is apparent in this scenario that the collapsed arches need correcting as much as normalizing the necks musculature in order to see symptoms of headaches or hand numbness subside.
Body work is very effective in normalizing muscle tonus and releasing restrictions which in turn brings much needed relief to sore, tired and painful muscles.
This is a first step on a fulfilling journey that will lead you to a place where you can fully heal; whether you suffer from a sore back, hands, arms, shoulder, eye strain or mental fatigue from deadlines, difficult situations or what not. A place where the effects of stress are neutralized, pain subsides, and symptoms fade.
As an aside, it is not that the world is a stressful place, but that our nervous systems and minds are processing incoming information in neuro-networks as stressful. This has a whole slue of responses from tense muscles, poor posture, sleep problems, digestive stagnation to mental fatigue, decreased immune function, and chronic conditions/diseases.
